About The Event
Create Space Sundays | Every Sunday 1 PM at Roots (in the corner garage space )
Each week, a new creator will be spotlighted, sharing inspiration & a demonstration of their work. This could include a tutorial, a performance, or a guided exercise depending on the nature of the work. Hear their story, what inspires them, and what compels them to share their creations with the world.
Their presentation will be followed by a group discussion and a themed art flow. This is where you can apply what you learned to your own craft, incorporating the theme of the week. Please bring your own art supplies.
For aspiring creators, you can learn the basics of a specific medium and start a practice of your own. For established creators, you can try on new perspectives and breathe new life & techniques into what you already do.
***Yoga is 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM every Sunday and is encouraged before this to get the creative juices flowing***
Each presenter will have their crafts/products available for sale.

MARCH 28TH: ANIMAL GUIDE MEDITATION & MASK-MAKING WITH MILENA OF SANARTE CUANTICO
This workshop will be held in two parts:
MARCH 28TH: Milena will lead a guided meditation to meet your animal guide. You will then be guided to create the base of the mask with plaster.
APRIL 18TH: The masks will be decorated and finished. Everyone will then wear their masks and perform an animal healing dance.
About Milena:
Artist, healer and researcher of holistic wellness and social art. I have studied
Contemporary Dance at Entredanza Centro de Formación Integral in Venezuela;
trained in Barre Method in New Jersey; and participated in open Contemporary
Dance workshops at the Martha Graham School in New York. I use performance,
video art, and ancestral healing rituals as well as intimate energetic dialogues in my
practice. I developed the Sanarte Quantico system, a methodology for approaching
pedagogical alternatives for the body from the perspective of Agape philosophy,
ancestral medicine, quantum healing, and environmentalism. The system also uses
collective performances based on social art and ethnography in which the body is
investigated as a territory.
I have shared workshops, laboratories, performances and dance incorporating the
Quantum Sanarte system at the national level in many cities of Colombia including
Bogotá, Medellín and Ibagué. The body and creation laboratories were given at the
National Meeting of Students of Visual and Plastic Arts ENEA 2013 and 2017. Other
notable performances in Colombia and the United States are Yakumama at Museo
del Río Magdalena, in Honda, Tolima 2019; La Leyenda del Colibrí, Ritual Dance,
Ibagué Tolima 2019; Genealogy of Ancestral Memory at the Queens Museum, New
York 2019; Short Films - Lakota, White Sand, Red Sand, USA 2020; Fridas, USA
2020; and Eagles as a Guide Animal, USA 2021.
