Create Space Sundays - February 21st: Silk Scarf Painting with Seda

Create Space Sundays | Every Sunday 1 PM at Roots (in the corner garage space ) 

Each week, a new creator will be spotlighted, sharing inspiration & a demonstration of their work. This could include a tutorial, a performance, or a guided exercise depending on the nature of the work. Hear their story, what inspires them, and what compels them to share their creations with the world.

Their presentation will be followed by a group discussion and a themed art flow. This is where you can apply what you learned to your own craft, incorporating the theme of the week. Please bring your own art supplies.

For aspiring creators, you can learn the basics of a specific medium and start a practice of your own. For established creators, you can try on new perspectives and breathe new life & techniques into what you already do.

Schedule:

Presentation 1:00 - 1:45 PM

Group Discussion 1:45 - 2:00 PM

Themed Art Flow 2:00 - 5:00 PM (not required to stay until the end)

***Yoga is 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM every Sunday and is encouraged before this to get the creative juices flowing***

Each presenter will have their crafts/products available for sale.

FEBRUARY 21ST: SILK SCARF PAINTING WITH SEDA MELIKYAN

Words from Seda: 

I will be presenting a silk painting technique that is called Serti. The serti technique originated in France, and it means to close or to fence in. Therefore, the theme of my presentation is "Enclosing."  I will demonstrate the technique, and we will collectively hand paint a silk scarf. Silk painting is a very unique experience. In my opinion, no other medium has that soft feel and the ability of paints spreading so easily and freely. We will not have a subject to paint, and instead will create unique shapes and images creating one of a kind wearable art.
