About The Event

Create Space Sundays | Every Sunday 1 PM at Roots (in the corner garage space )

Each week, a new creator will be spotlighted, sharing inspiration & a demonstration of their work. This could include a tutorial, a performance, or a guided exercise depending on the nature of the work. Hear their story, what inspires them, and what compels them to share their creations with the world.

Their presentation will be followed by a group discussion and a themed art flow. This is where you can apply what you learned to your own craft, incorporating the theme of the week. Please bring your own art supplies.

For aspiring creators, you can learn the basics of a specific medium and start a practice of your own. For established creators, you can try on new perspectives and breathe new life & techniques into what you already do.

Schedule:

Presentation 1:00 - 1:45 PM

Group Discussion 1:45 - 2:00 PM

Themed Art Flow 2:00 - 5:00 PM (not required to stay until the end)

***Yoga is 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM every Sunday and is encouraged before this to get the creative juices flowing***

Each presenter will have their crafts/products available for sale.

FEBRUARY 28TH: SUNLIGHT + TREES = ENGINE? Exploring Energy, Engines, & Liquid Sunlight with Mr. G's Workshop

How does liquid gasoline make your wheels go roundy roundy?

You'll learn through drawing how engines use a mechanical process to convert sunlight

into kinetic energy so you can drive your car.

How does that compare to electric cars?

What are the mechanical differences?

What is the benefit to the climate between the two technologies?

About Mr. G:

As a kid I sat in the back in the class.  My teachers thought I was avoiding their academic work.  They must have over looked that at the back of the class was the location of the pencil sharpener.  After every paper assignment got passed back, I would turn it over and draw a car.  Now that I'm the teacher, drawing and building cars is the work.  :)

In 2005 I started teaching High School shop class.  As I stop to look back, to this day I am so proud of my students and the projects we built.  The kids are just amazing.  Here are some highlights. In 2009 we converted a gasoline car to run on all electric.    Following that up, we converted a diesel car to run on veggie oil.  Sustainable engineering that explores Alternative Fueled Vehicles is the focus.

In addition to teaching "shop class" in a public school, I decided to open up my services to more people and see what is possible.  In the summer of 2013, I founded "Mr.G's Creative Workshop".  I offer classes on Intro to Welding, Small Engine Repair, Bicycle Repair and Electric Vehicles.
