About The Event

Kiss the Ground is a full-length documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson that sheds light on an new, old approach to farming called “regenerative agriculture” that has the potential to balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world.

Join us for a free screening starting at 5 PM on Saturday, November 7th at Roots. There will be a Q&A with Jared from Closter Farm following the film. The truck will be open until 6 pm for food and drink. Bring a blanket and/or cozy seating.

Established in January 2020, Closter Farm & Livestock Co. is a certified Organic farm in Closter, NJ focused on providing incredibly flavorful, highly nutritious food to the communities in Bergen County and the South Hudson Valley. They use low and no-till practices, favoring hand tools and human-scale farming practices to large machinery. In their first year, they grew over 35 varieties of crops sourced from employee-owned seed companies and planted over 140 native pollinators and trees. Join the 2021 Farm Share and learn more on their website, www.closterfarm.com.

Jared, the farmer, began his farming career in North Carolina as an apprentice on a 250 acre diversified market farm, run by a PhD in soil biology and NC State Extension agent. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, he moved to Hopewell, NJ to work at Double Brook Farm, an 800 acre, vertically integrated farm. In the fall of 2020, he began working on the plans for what would become Closter Farm.
